Classes Available Through Walz-Lund Enterprises LLC

(State certification by the American Association of Certified Firearms Instructors)

1.  Minnesota Permit to Carry a Handgun

This class is designed for people with some experience.  Participants must be familiar with their handgun, basic safety, and able to safely load and shoot.  Our class satisfies the Department of Public Safety requirements for a Permit to Carry and provides detailed, in-depth information on:

• Legalities of citizens’ self defense
• Use or threat of deadly force
• Legal & practical aspects of carrying a self-defense handgun
• In state and out-of-state travel
• Multi-State permit acquisition
• Self-defense shooting qualification (30 rounds)

2.  Renewal of Minnesota Permit to Carry

Satisfies the training requirements of the Minnesota Citizens Personal Protection Act for Permit to Carry renewal:

• Fundamentals and safe pistol use
• Legal aspects of pistol possession and carry
• Self-defense and restriction on use of deadly force
• Required shooting exercise

3.  Instinctive Defensive Shooting

Designed for people who are serious about defending themselves and their loved ones, this class teaches defensive and combative techniques and tactics including:

• Draw, grip and retention
• Proper marksmanship techniques
• Tactical and emergency handling and reloading
• Shooting instruction and practice in a variety of settings
• Multiple shooting drills

Required equipment includes a defensive handgun, minimum of 2 magazines (speed loaders for revolvers) 100 rounds of ammunition, holster, ear/eye protection and proper outdoor clothing. Attendees must be familiar with their gun, be able to draw and re-holster while watching a target and possess a Permit to Carry or Permit to Purchase.

4.  Handgun Safety and Handling Basics

This class was designed by AACFI to provide formal education to people with little or no handgun experience.  We teach the basic designs and functions of handguns, associated ammunition, handling and shooting basics.  Special emphasis is given to safety procedures.  A workbook and textbook are included.  Each student receives individual shooting instruction.  Handguns and ammunition are provided.

5.  AR15 Rifle Training

This is a comprehensive, 7 hour class with approximately 3 hours of classroom instruction and 4 hours on the shooting range. The classroom portion includes a thorough slide presentation with corresponding workbook. Training will cover: nomenclature, breakdown, parts, operation, maintenance, ammunition, ballistics, sighting, handling, positions and tactical procedures. Range time will be about 4 hours practicing all of these functions with a variety of tactical and shooting drills.

Required equipment for each attendee: AR15 Rifle; minimum 2 magazines, preferably more; 300 rounds of ammunition; ear/eye protection; outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather. Fee for this class: $200. Walz-Lund will provide lunch, coffee, water, and soda pop for the day. Anyone with special dietary needs is encouraged to bring their items, as we have a refrigerator and stove available.

6.  Intermediate Shooting Clinic

This class is provided as a service to students who request additional shooting experience before moving on to sporting, hunting, or personal protection activities.  Classes are scheduled individually in thirty minute blocks at the range.  Handguns and ammunition are provided or students may bring their own equipment.

7.  National Retired Law Enforcement Officer Permit

This class is available to retired law officers to obtain the 50 state Permit to Carry under the federal act House Resolution 218.
